The CE Summit 2022: Here’s why it matters

The Junior Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers – Lungsod ng Maynila Chapter has successfully conducted CE Summit 2022 entitled “LuminesCE: Emblazing Minds through Specializations towards a Sustainable Nation.”

With 2,250 total registered Civil Engineering student participants, this 4-day event was held last March 6, 13, 20, & 27 through Zoom and Facebook Live, tackling the six different specializations of Civil Engineering for the first three days and celebrating Women’s Month for the last day.

CE Summit is an annual event organized by JPICE-LNM particularly for Civil Engineering students who are yet unaware of different specializations in Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering Management, Transportation Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Water Resource Engineering, and Environmental Engineering). This year’s CE Summit intends to help aspiring Civil Engineers choose their career paths and prepare for the vast field they are about to enter. Successful speakers who excelled and specialized in their area were invited to each CE specialization to talk about their journey and inspire the students to thrive harder into becoming successful Civil Engineers someday. Well-known motivational speakers, including Atty. Chel Diokno, Hon. Neri Colmenares, and Hon. Sarah Elago, were also invited to provide a speech to kick-start each day of the event.

In line with the annual International Women’s Month celebration, JPICE-LNM came up with the specialization of “Women in Engineering” on its fourth and last day. They invited female resource speakers who excel in their respective disciplines. One of the highlights of the last day was the presence of the keynote speaker, Senator Ana Theresia “Risa” Hontiveros, who is known for her contributions to empowering women in the workplace. She imparted her insights and knowledge on how and what it takes to build a sustainable nation regardless of gender.

It was an illuminating experience and a remarkable milestone for the JPICE-LNM family. With the organization’s goal to promote academic excellence and foster solidarity among the other universities. The CE Summit 2022 has certainly achieved its goal in aiding the Civil Engineering community. Stay tuned because the JPICE-LNM community has more exciting and memorable events to come. Get in touch as we continue making a legacy on our trip to the JPICE-LNM members and the whole community of future Civil Engineers.
