Every kid, parent, teacher, and volunteer hopped on the For The Kids train last October 29, 2021 in the 7 Conditions and Disabilities Webinar. In the virtual event, Ms. Jean Christine Vela taught participants about Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Intellectual Disability, Hearing Impairment, and Visual Impairment.
The For The Kids Care Express also had stations on November 27 and December 4 where the kids were able to play and have fun with volunteers through Choo Choo Chats with Ate and Kuya. In between the Choo Choo Chats, many passengers also learned Basic Filipino Sign Language taught by Mr. William Sidayon Jr.
Ms. Michelle Sevilla and Ms. Olive Medina guided participants on December 10 to the Safe Spaces for Children with Disabilities Webinar. Along the ride, they shared their experiences as a teacher and as a parent to kids with disabilities.
On December 11, new passengers boarded the train to play exciting games and help in the delivery of the Care Express Packages to the Special Education Centers for the kids.
Ms. Vela guided the train once again on January 7 to have the Conversations with a Speech Therapist. On January 12, it is the kids’ turn to lead at the Ang Kwentong Bata station, where the kids were able to share their inspiring stories and creative talents.
Another activity was held last January 28 when participants listened to “Hating Kapatid” written by Raisa Rivera Falqui. Kids and adults alike also learned origami and clay art the next day. Finally, participants arrived at the last station of the trip on January 30 with the FTK2022 Care Express: Stations of Love “A Thank-Choo Concert”— showcasing new learnings, new friends, hopes, and inspirations that participants went on throughout their journey.
