Fullmetal Alchemist fans rejoice because the first trailer to the two anticipated live-action films has finally been unveiled!
On March 2, the trailer for two upcoming Fullmetal Alchemist films Vengeance of Scar and The Last Transmutation was unveiled, marking as sequels to the 2017 live-action movie that was directed by Fumihiko Sori.
The trailer shows the Elric brothers combating Scar, a notorious Alchemist serial killer, followed by a glimpse of the characters for the first time. It unearthed the live-action counterparts of Fuhrer King Bradley, Ling Yao, Lan Fan, Olivier Mira Armstrong, and Van Hoenheim.
Fullmetal fans should also look forward to the reappearance of the cast from Fullmetal Alchemist’s first live-action film that was adapted from the original series. Ryosuke Yamada will act as Edward Elric, Atomu Mizuishi as Alphonse Elric, Tsubasa Honda as Roy Mustang, Misako Renbutsu as Riza Hawkeye, Kanata Hongou as Envy, Ryuto Sato as Maes Hughes, and Shinji Uchiyama as Gluttony.
On March 15, Warner Bros. Japan released a new trailer for the two upcoming Fullmetal Alchemist live-action films. The trailer features some scenes from both upcoming films, showing action-packed clips, including a teaser of Edward and Alphonse’s fight against Scar. The first of the two upcoming films is slated for release in Japan on May 20, while the other is expected to be out on June 24. The international release date for both films is still yet to be revealed.
Fullmetal Alchemist was first released as a manga series in 2001. It was created by the highly-praised mangaka Hiromi Arakawa and is also one of the most well-known manga series. The manga went on two have two anime adaptations — the first was released in 2003, then in 2009, another anime adaptation of it was released titled Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, which is said to be the more accurate of the two series in terms of sticking to the manga series’ plot.
It follows the narrative of two brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, who have an extraordinary knack for the art of alchemy. While they were harnessing their expertise by attempting to resurrect their deceased mother, their lives abruptly went south. They both chose to become State Alchemists to search for the Philosopher’s Stone, an essential relic that will grant them to undo the detriment they brought about.
