Here’s how to elevate your McDonald’s Fish & Fries to truly British levels

Rejoice! McDonald’s Philippines has come out with a limited time offer of Fish & Fries, their twist of that quintessentially British takeaway food, Fish and Chips.

Traditionally served piping hot, smothered in salt, and wrapped in newspaper, fish and chips is credited for helping fuel the workforce of the industrial revolution, and was considered a vital source of nutrition for generations of British families. It’s become such an institution that the UK even safeguarded supplies during the first and second World Wars to maintain the morale of their troops and the working class.

So back to McDonald’s Fish & Fries. They described it as “Tender fish fillet with a golden crisp coating, paired with our World Famous Fries and your choice of Sweet and Sour, Thousand Island, or Tartar sauce.” Mmm. Sounds appetizing!

But if you want to make your Fish & Fries truly British (or as close to it as possible — this is still McDonald’s after all), we suggest asking for an extra packet of salt and bringing your own bottle of malt vinegar.

All that’s left for you to do is to shake copious amounts of salt and vinegar all over your Fish & Fries. Lay it on like you mean it! You’ll find the complex flavor of malt vinegar combined with salt will bring out the taste of the fish and the batter, well, better. Plus, it’s how they do it over at the good ol’ UK.

Now if only McDonald’s Philippines would come out with a limited time offer of a good strong cuppa.
