“Yer a wizard!”
To promote the Harry Potter prequel “Fantastic Beasts and Where to FInd Them,” Warner Bros. Pictures partnered with Google to let Android users experience what it’s like being a wizard by allowing them to “cast spells” using their phones.
Just like an actual wizarding wand, your phone now reacts to certain spells with added functionalities on “OK Google” voice command. Just simply say “OK Google” and add “Lumos” to turn on your phone’s flashlight and “Nox” to turn it back off.
And if you feel like you need a Dumbledore moment when he silences people, saying “Silencio” will turn your phone into silent mode — disabling the ringer and notifications.
Google also lets you explore the world of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” in Google Street View maps where you can view certain locations in the film set in New York, 1926. You can check out MACUSA (Magical Congress of the USA), Steen National Bank, the underground speakeasy The Blind Pig; and the magical apartment of Tina and Queenie Goldstein — two of the film’s key characters.
And if you want to feel like you’re “in” the world of ‘Fantastic Beasts’ where you can help Newt Scamander find his escaped beasts, you can download the Fantastic Beast virtual reality (VR) game on Google Play for free! Using Google’s recently released Daydream View VR headset, you can explore the magic in Newt’s case, weave a wand, cast a spell, and experience a magical adventure.
