SOUNDWAVES is a live music performance that brings OPM artists to share their music in a bar setting for the benefit of the chosen charitable institution.
As a starting events group, we want to put up an event that doesn’t just bring new artists into the music scene but to help the nation with serving the poorest of the poor. In result we partnered with Anawim Lay Missions Foundation, founded by Catholic Lay preacher Bo Sanchez, to raise funds to further help in their cause in giving a home for the rejected and abandoned elderly roaming the streets.
Being as this is your guy’s first event, what was the reason behind putting up an event for such a cause?
I can say for the both of us (Jam and I) that this is our first event that we’ve handled and put up from scratch. I mean, we’ve handled several events prior but majority of them are us being prod members from Lights, Audio Engineer, and Runners, sometimes performers as well. We put up SOUNDWAVES because we wanted an event that leaves a mark, sort of like a ripple effect where as to people were meant to help other people and in turn, helping others.
How did you guys get involved with Anawim Lay Missions Foundation?
Diego has been a member of the Light of Jesus Family, founded by Bro. Bo Sanchez for 6 years, he’s been serving in the youth for quite some time and one of the ministries that institutes to the abandoned elderly is the Anawim Lay Missions Foundation.
How will the money gained from this benefit be used towards the cause?
We’ve spoken with Bro. Caloy, the Operations Manager of Anawim and he filled us in on how the residents there, are doing. The wonderful Lolos and Lolas are currently in the number of 56 and they’d love to care for 75 by December. But they are low on budget. That is why as much as they’d love donations, they would also appreciate monetary givings to produce comfier beds, better lighting, grocery items, toiletries and the like. Bro. Caloy also shared with us that the Lolos and Lolas love fried food and rice, they’d love more of those. Also, 100% revenue gained from this benefit show will go directly to Anawim.
Are you planning for more benefits like this in the future?
We hope that this event would be a success, because if in any way we could help an organization that helps better the Philippines through music, we’d gladly do it again.
