When the news broke that the Supreme Court has approved the burial of the remains of former president and dictator Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, it came as no surprise that people have begun to question the decision. Who wouldn’t? The entire act questions our understanding of the word ‘bayani’ and the essence of creating a place such as Libingan ng mga Bayani to honor our heroes.
But there can be other alternative places to bury the remains of the late president. In fact, if they would really like to give honor to the former president, then perhaps they could have made a cemetery for all presidents instead.
Yes, a cemetery where the remains of all the presidents in the Republic of the Philippines, whether they have been good presidents or bad, should be buried. They should consider that there are alternative places and ways they can bury the remains of this late president and not only in the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
These alternative places are found through this initiative launched by Rethink Media Group of Rock Ed: Airlnb or air Libingan ng mga Bangkay, which seeks “to make the Filipino public aware that there are other, more viable options aside from the LNMB where Marcos can be buried by offering REAL alternatives. And this is done in a tongue-in-cheek manner without needing to be on the offensive mode. But at the same time, it further drives home our main point that Marcos doesn’t deserve a place at the LNMB.”
They can choose among the places offered at Airlnb: Loyola Park Memorial, Manila Chinese Cemetery, La Loma Cemetery, and even the Manila Film Cemetery. You can also find diverse selections of places for burial in the Ilocos region including, Abra, Batac, Dingas, Laoag, and Vigan.
