Seven reasons why reading Calvin and Hobbes will change your life

Are you familiar with Calvin and Hobbes? It was a syndicated comic strip series by American cartoonist Bill Watterson that ran for 10 years. Calvin and Hobbes proved so popular that you can still find it in many newspapers’ Comics section. It was also the only reason I read newspapers when I was a kid. A whole page dedicated to comic strips was a treat for my young self, and one of my favorites is this kulit kid, Calvin, and his stuffed tiger, Hobbes.

Whether you are young or old, here are seven things that make this comic strip series a must-read:

7. It illustrates parent-child relationship and vice versa.

Are you a first time parent? See how “Mom and Dad” put up with their son’s silly antics and how they are trying to outsmart each other.

6. It talks about the deep stuff too.

You think comics are just about fun, laughter, and silliness? Well, I guess you got to find out for yourself how Calvin and Hobbes teaches you a thing or two about life, death, friendship, art, and the environment.

5. You can get some tips on how to have fun.

There is no denying that Calvin is one naughty boy. You’ll wonder where he pulls off all his weird ideas from. But they looked really fun and are very funny too!

4. It has cheesy childhood romance.

Calvin may think he is way too smart for his parents, but it is amusing to see him get tongue-tied and outsmarted by his crush, Susie.

3. It teaches you to imagine.

One of the best gifts man received is the ability to imagine. And Calvin had a wide and a wild imagination that can take you into another world. If you rarely use your own imagination, now is the time to exercise it! What better way to escape the humdrum of life?

2. Calvin’s best friend is a tiger.

You know how as kids we all wanted to have a cool best friend? What is more terrific than to have a tiger as your best friend, even if it’s just a stuffed one?

1. You’ll find yourself laughing out loud — or better yet, rolling on the floor laughing!
If reading Calvin and Hobbes does not make you burst out in laughter with tears in your eyes, then you must have no sense of humor! Bill Watterson’s comic strip is both witty and funny. It’s enough to keep you entertained any time of the day.

If you just want to have a rollicking good time, read up! Calvin and Hobbes will surely give you some much-needed “fuzz therapy”!
