For its second year, Hydro Manila proved once more that it was one hell of a party! What started as a dull and gloomy day turned out to be the perfect time to celebrate life, music, and water, as the weather fulfilled Hydro Manila’s promise that together, #WeMakeItRain!
And indeed we made it rain that night. Hydro Manila showed everyone what a music festival with a splash of water looks like – it was hella lit!
Even with set-up delays and technical difficulties, the show started with everyone ready to party and get absolutely wet. People were even drizzled with water while they were still lined up. Hydro Manila’s Hype Team made sure that everyone was soaked not only with music but also with water.
One of the biggest music festivals in the country, Hydro Manila featured local artists and DJs who kept the crowd alive and partying non-stop until the early morning.
More fire trucks were added this year to make sure nobody leaves without getting the full Hydro Manila experience. Some even came prepared and wore swimsuits underneath their clothes or wore it as their tops.
The rain also helped drench the crowd with water, with everyone shouting, “Make it rain!” while dancing to every song and performance. Ironically, in a celebration where water is part of the main attraction, the rain caused technical difficulties, shorting out various equipment and instruments.
This led to the cancellation of main acts Ely Buendia and Parokya Ni Edgar’s sets, and left Armi Millare of Up Dharma Down with no choice but to perform without her band.
While the cancelled sets disappointed some, the party didn’t stop as surprise guests came onstage to keep the crowd going.
Teddy Corpuz of Rocksteady and Raymund Marasigan of Sandwich made an appearance during DJ MOD, DCash, and Jolo Paloosa’s Electronic Pinoy Music set, making some opine that if only Ely was there, he and Raymund could’ve had a mini Eraserheads reunion.
Lovi Poe also joined the stage and surprised the crowd during her brother Ron Poe’s #SOAK x #LIPAD set.
Despite the setbacks, Hydro Manila still managed to put up a great show. Indeed, #StoryAndHistory was made in a celebration of how fun life could be with music and a splash of water.
If you’re feeling that Hydro SEPANX, Hydro Manila is inviting everyone to their free victory party this Saturday, September 3, at Chaos Manila, City of Dreams.
