by AJT Santos

Next week, the most cutting-edge names in interactive entertainment will gather at the Los Angeles Convention Center to showcase the latest games and products in E3.

In a nutshell

E3 stands for Electronic Entertainment Expo. It is a gaming trade show that happens every June and is considered the flagship event for the video game industry.

It started in 1995 and is exclusive to industry professionals, video game press, and prosumers only. In other words, if you have nothing to do with the video game industry, you can’t get in.

Why it matters

Organized by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), this is where all the major players in gaming exhibit their upcoming games, systems, and merch.

Past reveals include industry heavy-hitters such as Starcraft, the original Xbox, and the Unreal Engine.

What can we look forward to this year? Here are some announcements, predictions, and half-confirmed rumors:

2015 may be the first year when indie and PC games will be making a huge impact. SOMA anyone?

Fallout 4. *drops mic*

One year after its first rumored announcement, everybody’s still hoping Dishonored 2 will be making an appearance.

Ubisoft could be another big thing this year with Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, The Division, and Rainbow Six Siege.

Square Enix will be having a party for a still unannounced “secret title.” Oooh, juicy!

Dark Souls 3 on Xbox One and PS4 will be headed once again by Hidetaka Miyazaki. If you don’t know why that’s a big deal, then it probably doesn’t matter if we don’t explain it.

Microsoft is beefing up its console with a Gears of War remake, Mass Effect 4 (!), and Red Dead Redemption 2. Plus a new 2015 Xbox One!

All the cool new stuff that Nintendo announced ahead of E3.

Pokken Tournament for the Wii U.

Gravity Rush 2 as a PS4 exclusive. Does this spell doom for the PS Vita? Tell us already, Sony!

PS One classic Syphon Filter might get a reboot! Holy crap! Yes please!
