“Making albums is like therapy for me,” quipped the concert king Martin Nievera during the official press conference of his concert, “The Best of Martin Nievera” at Luxent Hotel last August 17, Wednesday.
Martin Nievera, who has been in the industry for 34 years, wants to keep OPM alive by teaching millennials about the songs that paved the way for the music we have now through this benefit concert. In one night, the Concert King will take us to a trip down memory lane as he serenades us with his greatest classic hits like “Be My Lady,” “Ikaw Lamang,” “You Are My Song,” and “Kahit Isang Saglit.”
This concert is in celebration of Nievera’s three decades in the music industry and also for the benefit of the Philippine Chinese Charitable Association, Inc. and Philippine Red Cross Quezon City. Martin will be accompanied by a band led by musical director Marvin Querido in some of his performances. He will also be joined by acclaimed folk singer and composer, Noel Cabangon, and actress-singer, Zsa Zsa Padilla.
Aside from his classic hits, Martin Nievera will also perform songs from his latest album with PolyEast Records, “Kahapon…Ngayon”, to pay homage to OPM’s roots by giving new life to classic haranas and old iconic movie scores. Martin is excited about this album because, not only did he get to sing one of his favorite songs, Saan Ka Man Naroon, it also contains the most difficult song he has recorded so far, Usahay.
