#OnlyForTheBESS: FBeSS conducts its 3rd Student Summit

With the theme: YOUth Elect: Developing Skills to be Effective Student Votes, the Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences (FBeSS) conducted its 3rd Summit, March 4 and 5 which aims to educate students in choosing the right leader and develop multiple intelligence.

The first day was opened with a plenary session featuring the talks by Dr. Paul Dumol of University Asia and the Pacific on “Why We Vote the Way We Do?”, Ms. Krystyna Dy of Democracy Watch Philippines on the role of Filipino youth in changing the nation through participating in the upcoming Presidential Election, and by Bro. Romulo Guillermo of Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting on choosing the right leaders guided by values.

The afternoon session was divided into four breakout sessions namely public speaking, photography, doodle making and the experience of the youth who joined the voyage to West Philippine Sea. Distinct guest speakers were invited to share their thoughts and expertise in the field. The breakout sessions were concluded with a workshop.

Team building was the main activity during the second day. Geared towards developing the multiple intelligences of the BeSS Students, an Election Race was actively participated by the eight teams of students, each assigned to take on the multiple intelligence challenge on each of the eight stations named after the presidential and vice-presidential candidates.

Finally, the #BeSSRavePartyEver concluded the two-day student summit. Faculty members and students showcased their talents unraveled their musical side as they perform to the enjoyment of everyone. Punk Magalona, a band led by Prof. Ose Martija, set the stage and as followed by BeSS student bands and groups. DJ Adrian John also rocked the campus with up-beat music which made everyone move and groove.

Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago clinched the highest number of votes twice after the two mock elections held during the summit to determine the presidential candidate who won the FBeSS students’ support.
