Young actor/singer Elmo Magalona has signed a record contract with Universal Records taking on his legendary father, Francis Magalona’s influence on him and his own music style.
Elmo, the sixth son of the late Master Rapper, will hit the studio to work on his debut release slated early 2016 and first single is expected to drop by the end of the year. Universal Records is also planning to include a collaboration of Elmo and his brother, Frank Magalona.
The contract signing was also attended by Elmo’s mom and manager Pia Magalona, Universal Records’ Operations Manager Peter Chan, Universal Records’ General Manager Kathleen Dy-Go and Universal Records’ A&R Manager Ito Rapadas.
The 21-year old actor-rapper joins a high-profile Universal Records roster that includes Gary Valenciano, Ogie Alcacid, Sam Concepcion, Nikki Gil, Rico Blanco, Sponge Cola, Aiza Seguerra, Christian Bautista, Noel Cabangon, Parokya ni Edgar and Callalily to name a few.
