UA&P’s Dulaang ROC stages “Ang Inspektor”

Following the recent success of “Madaling Araw,” Dulaang Rock Opera Company (Dulaang ROC) will be staging yet another major production that will highlight Filipino culture and values in the play Ang Inspektor.

Since 1989, UA&P’s Dulaang ROC has always been committed to promoting the Filipino culture, language, and literature through the stage. True enough, they’ve partnered with UA&P Kultura, the institutional subunit that handles artistic and cultural activities, as they put on a local take on Nikolai Gogol’s “Inspector General” without deviating far from the text.

Originally written in Russian, the script was translated to Filipino by Palanca Award-winner Christian Vallez. Together with director and Dulaang ROC’s alumnus, Joseph Noel Parcon, the audience is guaranteed to leave the laughter-filled theater with new social insights and perspectives.

“Ang Inspektor” is about how the lives of the people living in a far-flung corrupt rural town are upended when they receive word that a government inspector has come to audit them. Fearing that their unscrupulous ways will get them in trouble, the town officials scramble to find and take care of the inspector.

Ang Inspektor will begin its run on February 24 until March 15 at the University of Asia and The Pacific’s Dizon Auditorium. Ticket prices are as of follows: Regular – Php 400.00; UA&P Students, Faculty, and Staff – Php 200.00; UA&P Alumni – Php 350.00. For more information, you may visit Dulaang ROC’s facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/dulaangroc.
