Gawad Kalinga partners with Gava Gives to alleviate poverty

Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation, (GK) a Philippine-based poverty alleviation and nation-building movement partners with crowdfunding platform Gava Gives, as part of their mission to end poverty by 2024.

GK officially signed a partnership deal with Gava Technologies, Inc.(Gava Gives) last January 2018 opening up bigger possibilities to fund projects on poverty alleviation through seeking donations online.

Present in the Memorandum of Agreement signing were GK executives Luis Oquiñena, the Executive Director, Bodoy Oquiñena, Gawad Kalinga’s Luzon Operations Head, Alaine Figueras, Partnerships Manager, Jersey Miranda, IT Head, Chrissie Saplala, Marketing Campaigns Head, and Atty. Patrick Duran, Gawad Kalinga’s Legal Officer. Meawhile, Ann Cuisia, CEO and Jojy Azurin, Business Strategist represented Gava Gives.

“This agreement aims to fund all their ongoing projects of GK. Projects are based on geography and three areas of Building Communities, Building The Movement, and Building Social Businesses. All these projects aims to end poverty for five million families,” Lindayag says.

With the bulk of the donations are from outside the Philippines, GK will start focusing on local donation through Gava Gives.

“As the premiere NGO in the country, we welcome them and commit to support them all the way ,” Lindayag adds.

With this agreement, GK will be up to date with the latest in donations technology such us the use of blockchain for fast and transparent transactions. Gava Gives will soon lead in the effort to migrate donation systems into blockchain.
