6cyclemind’s Di Na Atin Destined to Be a Fan Favorite

The band 6cyclemind is back in fighting form with a new single and music video that is destined to be a fan favorite. Titled “Di Na Atin,”the song spreads the hugot on really thick, effective in its delivery of emotion through a melodic hook that will keep you close company if you ever break up with a significant other.

Written by the band’s guitarist Rye Sarmiento, “Di Na Atin” is an honest lament to love now lost that begs the question, is this song somehow autobiographical? In this, we are only speculating, of course, but one thing we’re sure of is that the song speaks to a universal experience that is familiar to anyone who has ever been vulnerable in love.

The chorus goes,

Alam namang hindi na atin
Pigilan ang damdamin
Hindi ko yata kakayanin

Alam namang hindi na pwede
Kahit anong diskarte
Hindi na yata papalain,

perfectly encapsulating the feels one feels immediately after (and, many times, long after) a relationship dissolves.

Sharing the vocal spotlight with 6cyclemind frontman Tutti Caringal is the Queen Mother herself, Ms. Karla Estrada, who returns to her rock roots in this track, driving an emotional homerun with her impassioned vocals. Caringal and Estrada are good friends, having first met on the set of ABS-CBN’s Your Face Sounds Familiar. While their respective lyrics aren’t exactly conversational, the two have created a duet that is destined to be a popular rockeoke night request.

Di Na Atin” also ups the music video game. Directed by the band’s longtime friend Enzo Valdez of Sindikato Productions, the four-minute video features vignettes that serve to remind the viewer that, hey, love hurts. The mood is somber, as the band’s indvidual members slowly appear in expertly-lit shots, with some smoke effects to add to the atmosphere. Caringal and Estrada find themselves bathed in volumetric light when they hit the high points of their duet, amping up the drama. The video was launched last February 7 at the 70’s Bistro and debuted on the MYX music channel last Saturday, March 4.

We’re predicting that this song becomes one of 6cyclemind’s standards: it is a well-crafted duet that is radio-friendly, catchy, and has that hugot factor. That it ends on a slight change to the words of the chorus sets you up to get suckered in.

Alam namang hindi na atin,
hindi na atin,
hindi ka akin.

OUCH.

6cyclemind’s “Di Na Atin” is distributed digitally by Star Music.
