This Week in POP! Culture

by The InqPOP! Team

This week in POP! Culture: Madonna, zookeepers, and unicorn emojis. In case you were away on a rainy day vacation this week, we’ve got you covered with Madonna, some zookeepers, and unicorn emojis.

  • The emoji gods have answered everyone’s prayers and are now blessing us with taco and unicorn emojis! And just in case we need to express ourselves purely through Mexican food, there’s also going to be a burrito emoji to come with your taco! Soon to be available on iOS and Android, the Unicode 8.0 update will feature 41 new emojis including a hot dog, popcorn, and more sports and religious symbols. (via Engadget)
  • If you liked “Gone Girl” (the novel, not emptying your bank account and pretending you’re dead in a ditch somewhere), we’re pretty sure you’re gonna like the newest movie adaptation from best-selling author, Gillian Flynn. The “Dark Places” trailer has just been released and we are freaking out over Chloe Moretz and Charlize Theron! Watch here.
  • Queen Madonna made another music video! But this time, she shared the screen with other royal people such as Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, and Kanye. Catch the star-studded craziness here!
  • Miley Cyrus shined as she was awarded the Inspiration Award at the amfAR annual Inspiration Gala for the impact she has had on the LGBTQ community through her Happy Hippie Foundation. If you still see her as nothing but a half-naked 22-year-old sporting a foam finger, just do yourself a favor and watch her acceptance speech.
  • Our 14-year-old selves are still rejoicing over Hilary Duff’s new album: “Breathe In. Breathe Out.” Except that we can’t breathe. Not now. Not ever. Have a dose of nostalgia over here!
  • Zookeepers are re-enacting Chris Pratt’s training scene in Jurassic World. Because, LOLZ.
  • The Game of Thrones finale either broke the Internet, or made the Internet go huhubells. Either way, here’s a 3-minute recap of the season finale!
  • Aziz Ansari of Parks and Recreation fame released his book Modern Romance this week. Here he talks about love in the time of texting, the internet and swiping right.
  • Now that the work week is over, celebrate with some good music at the Fete dela Musique 2015! A different stage is given for every genre imaginable, including house, blues, funk, jazz, electronica, hip-hop, reggae, Latin, and elemental. The main stage will be located at the A. Venue parking lot in Makati! Here are all the venues, rolled into one convenient sushi by Alien Werewolf:
