Q&A with Cannes Young Lions Marketers representative Ada Almendras

(Editor’s note: We asked all our delegates and student representatives to answer five questions regarding their attendance in this year’s Cannes Lions. Today, we talk to Ada Almendras of Mcdonald’s Philippines, one of our country’s representatives for the Cannes Young Marketers Competition.)

POP! Team: What was the first thing you put inside your bag when you were packing your luggage for Cannes?

Ada: I got a sticker of our flag and stuck it on my luggage. Then I packed my cameras! I was certain I’d be making a lot of good memories.

 

POP! Team: What was the first thing that came to your mind when you saw all these representatives from different countries during the festival briefing?

 

Ada: The first thing was that I was around the greatest young minds of the world each representing their own country. I also met another Filipino in the competition who represented a different flag. It made me proud realizing that Filipino talents really excel even in the global stage.

 

POP! Team: What exactly was running through your mind when you were working on the project, particularly one hour before the submission time?

 

Ada: “This is it! Let’s go tell our story.”

 

POP! Team: Give us a quick summary of your Cannes Lions experience.

 

Ada: It’s not enough to just have a great idea; it should be extraordinarily great. It also reminded me that the simplest human truths can give birth to the best insights.

 

POP! Team: Do you think the Philippines has a shot at winning a Lion? Yes or no? Why?

 

Ada: Definitely. We’ve already seen it happen. We just have to continue pushing and believing.
