(Editor’s note: We asked all our delegates and student representatives to answer five questions regarding their attendance in this year’s Cannes Lions. Up next is Joey David-Tiempo, ECD of TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno and one of the Filipino jury members in the festival.)

POP! Team: What was the first thing you put inside your bag when you were packing your luggage for Cannes?
Joey: My mobile power pack. I needed to extend my phone’s battery life for updates from the jury room.
POP! Team: What was the first thing that came to your mind when you saw all the other judges from different countries during the festival briefing?
Joey: “Outnumbered by men again!”
POP! Team: What exactly was running through your mind when you were judging on Day 1? How about on Day 2?
Joey: Day 1: Please make it to the shortlist! Day 2: PLEASE MAKE IT TO THE SHORTLIST!
POP! Team: Give us a quick summary of our Cannes Lions experience.
Joey: You come into Cannes hungry; you come out hungrier.
POP! Team: Do you think the Philippines has a shot at winning a Lion? Yes or no? Why?
Joey: Of course, we have a chance in Cannes. We’d have a bigger chance if we can convince our clients to demand work that the world will admire.
