The first issue of X-Men ’92 is out and it’s made of pure awesomesauce

Based on the animated series that launched a million nerdgasms when it debuted, X-Men ’92 is a tongue-in-cheek take on the classic mutant line-up a lot of us grew up on: uptight-leader Cyclops, teenage-angst Wolverine, ladies-man Gambit, high-school-hottie Rogue, cool-female-friend Jubilee, why-so-serious Storm, and oh-so-mature Jean Grey. And oh yeah, emotionless-dad Professor X.

Originally released late last month as a digital comic on the Marvel Infinite Comics platform, X-Men ’92 has made old(er) X-fans wax nostalgic about the nineties and reminded all of us how much fun good ol’ fashioned storytelling can be. It’s a refreshing break from the now-standard fare of so-epic-I-can’t-even crossovers of today.

Expect a throwback style of comic book writing such as characters thinking out loud, cheesy banter, and background narration.

X-Men ’92 rocks the nineties so hard you could almost hear the synth opening playing in your head as you page through it.

We highly recommend you pick up a copy of X-Men ’92 #1. The team of Chris Sims, Chad Bowers, and Scott Koblish has done a stellar job creating an exciting and fun book that will surely delight even the most jaded fans of the franchise.
