Guests of the country’s first one-stop, nonstop tourism destination for ultimate thrills, Resorts World Manila (RWM), are invited to be among the first to welcome the luck and prosperity of the Chinese New Year with its Imperial Festival, which runs from January 30 until February 15.
RWM’s annual observance of the Lunar New Year paves the way for a line-up of impressive events, shows, promos, and other attractions focusing on welcoming the Year of the Horse while wishing luck, love, and prosperity for its guests.
The Imperial Festival is a two-week celebration featuring the ceremonial firecracker lighting and Kun Seng Keng lion dance ceremonies, food and fortune-telling booths, a Chinese orchestra, charms, acrobats, geomancers, magic shows, rickshaw rides, photo booths, and much more, transforming the plush Newport Mall into a charming Chinatown.
From January 27 until February 13, prosperity trees can be found around RWM where members can try out their luck and pick surprise treats including a peek at fate at the fortune telling booth; a posterity shot with friends and family at the Imperial Festival photo booth; or a gift certificate to RWM food outlets courtesy of RWM and Megaworld Corporation, all for a minimum single receipt purchase of Php2,000 or 18GP. Booths selling traditional Chinese charms and delicacies will also be at The Plaza during mall hours.
On January 30, at 11PM, RWM formally welcomes the Lunar New Year with a firecracker display to usher in good luck. Firecracker displays are also slated on January 31 at 3PM, February 1 at 11AM, and February 7 & 14 at 11PM.
The revelry continues with lion and dragon dance performances throughout Newport Mall on February 1, while Malaysian world champions Kun Seng Keng also reprise their jaw-dropping stunts on February 8 and 9, at 3PM and 7PM, free for all guests. Bar 360 Concerts on January 31 and February 15 will feature world-class artists onstage one of the hippest bars in the metro, while Fox Movies premieres Robocop on February 5, for an awesome blockbuster experience at the Newport Cinemas.
With all the festivities coinciding with Valentine’s Day, something truly special will also take place at the Newport Performing Arts Theater on February 14. A night of passion is in store as veteran theater actor Leo Tavarro Valdez shares the stage with the country’s Pop Diva Kuh Ledesma for a one-night-only concert dubbed The King and The Diva: Beyond Classic.
Tickets to The King and The Diva: Beyond Classic are now available at the RWM Box Office located near RWM’s Main Casino Entrance.
