With 65 schools, the 23rd ISAW is currently the biggest in Isabela

From 47 in 2021, the number of participating schools in the Isabela Socio-Cultural Awareness Week (ISAW) climbed to 65 this year in its 23rd edition. Around 1,445 students and teachers from these schools joined the ISAW activities on February 4-6 online.

This makes the 23rd ISAW the biggest series of contests and webinars for elementary and high school students in Isabela this school year. The ongoing pandemic has canceled annual scholastic competitions, so ISAW, which shifted to the online setup since last year, has provided an opportunity for Isabeleño students to still gather for contests, albeit virtually.

“[ISAW] really is a big help most especially to our students, the event allows them to showcase their skills and talents amidst the pandemic,” said one of the participating coaches. “I really like the fact that despite our situation right now, we were able to celebrate this kind of event,” shared another participant.

The support for the 23rd ISAW schools proved to be immense as the event’s Facebook page reached more than 391,000 people and recorded about 299,000 in post engagements. Its live streams raked in a total of 68,300 views.

Contestants from the following 65 schools competed in the 23rd ISAW contests to determine the winners to be sent by the UP Kalipunan ng mga Anak ng Isabela, a student formation of Isabeleños that organizes the annual ISAW, to the Patalasanlahi, a national competition in UP Diliman.
