The ‘Moon Knight’ trailer teases another dark and gritty series from Marvel

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is seemingly heading in a new direction with its media. The official trailer for Moon Knight looks very much like a psychological thriller sprinkled with some horror. This comes in line with their first horror movie, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and it certainly looks like Marvel is trying to do new things with their shows and movies. That’s a good thing, too.

Moon Knight’s official trailer starts from the perspective of Steven Grant, who according to Marvel is a “mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life.” The trailer makes it very clear that Steven suffers from dissociative identity disorder (DID). Marvel states that he “shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector, and he must battle that conflict with his identities.

In the comics, the story actually follows Marc Spector instead of Steven Grant, and Marc is the “host” personality, with his alternate personalities being Steven, Moon Knight, and so on. The trailer looks like Steven is the host personality, so it would be interesting to see how Marvel would handle that change in the story.

The trailer for Moon Knight has also received nothing but praise from fans. One YouTube comment praises the darker theme, which has been somewhat a rarity in previous MCU movies. “All l ever wanted is darker themes in the MCU like Daredevil, this looks like a great start, l hope it has this tone throughout.”

Others have praised the casting of Oscar Isaac (Dune, Star Wars) as Moon Knight and are excited to see him perform as Steven Grant.
