17th December, 2021 – Singapore – Multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter JVKE has linked up with charismatic hip-hop star RAMENGVRL for a remix of his hit “this is what falling in love feels like”. RAMENGVRL dishes her witty bars and signature charm on the viral track, syncing perfectly with JVKE’s earnest lyrics.
JVKE has seen incredible growth in Asia in recent months, and teaming up with RAMENGVRL – arguably one of the most prominent faces in Asia’s music scene – is the cherry on top of his already amazing year. Currently, JVKE’s Top 20 Streaming Markets worldwide include Philippines, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
The original version of “this is what falling in love feels like” has now been streamed over 38 MILLION times, and entered viral charts in 51 markets across the globe. On TikTok, JVKE has garnered over 50 million views on posts about the song and over 31,000 fans have used the song on the platform, all increasing by the second!
On how the remix came about, RAMENGVRL shares, “I first discovered this track through TikTok and funnily enough, a few months later JVKE’s team reached out to ask if I would remix it. In all honesty, I really vibed with the message of the track and this was a fun opportunity to give my own unique RAMENGVRL twist but with something very different from my usual flavor, I hope the fans will love it.“
JVKE elaborates, “I’m really happy with what RAMENGVRL brought to this record. She’s an exciting talent, and getting to work with her on this has been really dope. I hope everyone loves this remix as much as I do.”
This remix follows RAMENGVRL’s two big wins at this year’s Anugerah Musik Indonesia (Indonesia’s largest music awards show), where she picked up awards for “Hip-Hop Song of The Year” and “Urban Collaboration of the Year”. The breakout star was named Indonesia’s “Future of Rap” by VICE and has been listed in Forbes Indonesia’s 30-under-30 as a trailblazer and culture leader. RAMENGVRL was the first artist to be signed to Warner Music’s hip-hop imprint Asiatic Records earlier this year, and her recent singles “Ain’t No MF (Feat. pH-1)” and “I’m Ugly” were included in Apple Music’s ‘Best Songs of 2021’ list.
JVKE forged his own connection to music as a toddler in piano lessons. Excelling on the instrument, he went on to receive formal training in guitar and drums. As a teenager, he discovered the music software Logic on a friend’s computer, and it opened up endless possibilities.
Inspired immediately, he saved up and bought himself a computer setup and infused years of formal training into creating tunes with his big brother Zac in their basement. First, he dipped his toes into the industry from behind-the-scenes, landing a placement with Super Junior as well as cuts for EXO and Jason Derulo.
“I took all of these different things I’ve learned and incorporated them into production,” he explains. “I was able to be on stage in church multiple times a week. To this day, I still use all of those instruments in pretty much every song. My brother and I practiced our skills together. It helped us to work quickly. He became the perfect partner, because we have a shared history.”
Music would be a family affair all-around. In 2020, JVKE crafted the original sound for what would become his debut single “Upside Down”—co-produced and co-written by Zac. Another family member contributed to its viral explosion though. He debuted the sound in a video that depicted his mom cooking up the beat. It organically exploded on TikTok before Charli D’Amelio eventually took notice and used it. Within six months, it had incited over 15 million user-generated videos, and JVKE released the official version of “Upside Down.” Catching fire, Charlie Puth hopped on the Official Remix as total streams eclipsed 70 million and counting.
JVKE has been on a roll, releasing hit after hit, and it doesn’t look like he’ll be slowing down anytime soon.
“I want my music to be different and fresh,” he leaves off. “I hope you feel something when you’re listening to it, because it reflects my passion and attitude. I’m just a kid who’s obsessed with making all kinds of music and enjoying every second of it.
