In celebration of its anniversary, UP ComBroadSoc holds Bukambibig yearly. Established in 2004, UP ComBroadSoc is a media-oriented socio-civic organization from the University of the Philippines Los Baños and is dedicated to developing progressive, socially-aware, and civic duty-centric students who have the potential to be facilitators of change.

In her keynote speech, Assistant Professor Jane Vinculado, former station manager of DZUP 1602, emphasized the role of community broadcasting in encouraging and empowering the youth to become facilitators of change in their communities.

“When you give the tools of production to the youth, if you allow them to participate in content production, in providing for production, they are also allowed the space where they feel empowered, and they look towards progressive social change,” Vinculado said.

For four consecutive Saturdays, the 60 students who attended the opening ceremonies shall serve as the official participants of the workshop series. They will also compose of the first batch of the UP ComBroadSoc’s Bukambibig alumni. Meanwhile, the webinars are open for all.
