Britney Spears is finally free!
The 39-year-old singer’s conservatorship was terminated on Friday, November 12, during a hearing. The termination of the arrangement was ordered by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny.
Britney Spears’ attorney Matthew Rosengart said that there is a “safety net” for the singers’ finances and personal care. Judge Penny declared that assets will be transferred from Spears’ temporary conservator to the singer’s trust and that Spears will not be required to have a medical evaluation. No one objected to the ruling.
According to the judge, the next court dates are scheduled for December 8 and January 19, to discuss a petition for substituted judgment.
Hundreds of Britney fans and supporters cheered outside the courthouse after the ruling. Spears did not attend the hearing, but she went on Twitter to express her gratitude to her fans for being very supportive of her while she struggled with her 13-year long conservatorship. “Good God I love my fans so much it’s crazy !!! I think I’m gonna cry the rest of the day !!!! Best day ever … praise the Lord … can I get an Amen ????” the singer wrote, ending the tweet with the hashtag #FreedBritney.
Fans have also taken to social media to congratulate the singer for finally being able to win back her freedom.
