Twitter is divided after Simu Liu’s old Reddit posts go viral

Marvel’s newest star Simu Liu is drawing flak from Twitter and social media after some of his old and possibly problematic Reddit posts started circulating the internet last September 17.

A now-deleted Reddit account called /u/nippedinthebud has been linked to Simu Liu, and it seems that some old posts dating back to 2015 can cause trouble for the young star. The tweet below shows some of the posts he made:

The Twitter user provides proof telling us that /u/nippedinthebud is really Simu Liu’s former Reddit account.

In one post, it seems that he talks about gender equality, citing that “girls are just not as good as boys at  sports.” However, this post was debunked by Twitter

In another post, he talks about terrorism and the killing of innocent lives, shocking some Twitter users and making them believe he promotes terrorist attacks. However, this post has once again been debunked by one Twitter user, as seen below.

Finally, here is a post in which he finds it appropriate to compare pedophilia and homosexuality:

This seems like the most problematic post that was discovered in his former Reddit account. Many users found that his comparison of pedophilia and homosexuality was completely irresponsible.

However, other users thought he was trying to express that there is a proper treatment for pedophilia. It may seem he wrote the post in good faith, but no one has excused the carelessness in establishing the point he wanted to make.

As a result of all the recent troubles these posts cause, social media users want an official response from Simu Liu himself, addressing the problematic nature of his Reddit posts, and maybe even an apology as well.

The closest response we’ve gotten from Liu is a reply to a Twitter thread he made two years earlier, which also addressed former issues.

Simu Liu pedophile tweet

“Oh cool this is here” was tweeted a few hours after his former Reddit posts circulated around Twitter. It seems like an attempt to bring attention to tweets from two years ago, in which he states, “Just a reminder that I do not ever EVER advocate for anything other than positivity.”

In this old thread, he also emphasizes that people can change and grow for the better.

“If you dig back far enough, I’m sure you’ll find a more immature version of me who gave in to anger and hate. It doesn’t make me a hypocrite; it makes me a human being.”
