The Blue’s Clues 25th Anniversary: A (nostalgic) gift that keeps on giving

Christmas came early this year through the 25th Blue’s Clues anniversary. Towards the end of August, Nick Jr. brought together all three hosts of the beloved show Blue’s Clues, and the content just keeps on coming… and we’re loving it.

A welcome and wholesome timeline cleanse, it seems like the team behind the Blue’s Clues anniversary celebration has a whole arsenal of content hidden up their sleeves. Not like we’re complaining or anything.

The man, the myth, and the legend: Steve Burns came to celebrate the show. Alongside him was his on-air brother Donovan Patton who took over after he went to college in 2002. Filipino-American Joshua Dela Cruz, the two’s on-air cousin, captains the revival of the show in Blue’s Clues & You! All three hosts sporting their classic long-sleeved looks.

The three answer fans’ most asked questions, who’s most likely to, and so much more.

The hosts also explore their relationships with the show as they go on their own rides of nostalgia by viewing their first ever episodes on air.

Nick Jr. sums up the history of the 25-year-old show in just 60 seconds, provides the  “blue-pers” from filming all the 25th anniversary specials, and most recently revealed unreleased footage filmed for the pilot. Footage filmed even before we saw Steve in his classic striped getup.

The hosts also made sure to thank all their fans throughout the years, singing a song that brought everyone down memory lane because you just can’t spell “Blue” without “U”… I’m not tearing up, you are!

Of course, it would be impossible not to mention the surprise attack of closure, reassurance, and validation that we didn’t know we all needed (but ended up crying about anyway).

Who can ever forget our first and shared experience of heartbreak?

Steve’s message may have been years late, but better late than never?

This particular message touched so many hearts that Steve even popped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Steve gave the “indifferent” and not at all “emotionally invested” Colbert a deeply satisfying hug we all wish we could have been a part of.

It’s always nice to see a dash of wholesomeness and nostalgia sprinkled into our timelines now and then. The 25th anniversary of the iconic show evokes a warm and fuzzy feeling deep down in our ageing hearts.

With this major blast from the past, one question remains… got any clues for us adults, Blue?
