Margaret Atwood is set to return to bookstores with a new work. In 2022, the Canadian novelist will release her latest work, “Burning Questions,” a collection of essays in which the “Handmaid’s Tale” writer tackles some of the most pertinent issues of the day.
The publisher Penguin Random House describes “Burning Questions” as a “brilliant selection of essays — funny, erudite, endlessly curious, uncannily prescient.” As the book’s title suggests, the essays see Margaret Atwood explore answers to certain pressing questions, such as why people everywhere, in all cultures, tell stories, and what zombies have to do with authoritarianism.
“In over fifty pieces Atwood aims her prodigious intellect and impish humor at the world, and reports back to us on what she finds. The roller-coaster period covered in the collection brought an end to the end of history, a financial crash, the rise of Trump and a pandemic,” the publisher explains.
“From debt to tech, the climate crisis to freedom, from when to dispense advice to the young (answer: only when asked) and how to define granola, we have no better guide than Atwood to the many and varied mysteries of our universe.”
Fans will have to wait until March 1, 2022, to delve into Margaret Atwood’s “Burning Questions.” The book lands one year after “Dearly,” the writer’s first collection of poetry in over a decade. In it, the acclaimed author notably tackles certain themes also addressed in “Burning Questions,” like the passing of time and climate change. JB
