The best companies for fresh graduates revealed

One of the most sought-after graduate employer awards in Australia and New Zealand launched in the Philippines on the 19th of May.

The GradPhilippines’ Top 100 Graduate Employers list is a ranking that awards exceptional employers who hire early career talent.

Introducing this award in the Philippines is a great step forward in Filipino graduate recruitment and shows how companies can come together to aid the nation’s economic recovery following the covid-19 pandemic by helping fresh graduates get the best start to their careers possible.

“We hope to bring everybody in the graduate recruitment space in the Philippines together to help the thousands of graduating students in the country as much as we can,” said Yohanne Esguerra, the country manager of GradPhilippines.

The list was unveiled by GradPhilippines, a  jobs board which hosts job and internship opportunities for college students, young professionals, and early career talent.

Topping the list of the best graduate employer in the country was Unilab, who was also the winner in its sector for R&D and Manufacturing.

Marylou Gomez, the human resources director at Unilab, said that, “it has been a humbling experience for us to connect and be of support to the needs of our fellow Filipinos during this time. Our persistence in creating meaningful connections in the digital space… and our agility in the midst of the pandemic, enabled us to sustain our presence and live up to our purpose.

During the awards ceremony, the best graduate employers in the country were polled about how long the average graduate stays at their company, the answer was an amazing 4-5 years – a result of their top effort in creating programs that will help graduates get the best start to their career.

Among the top five were Nestlé, a consumer goods company who came in second overall, third was ABS-CBN, a media and communications company, fourth was Canva, a technology company, and in fifth place was BDO Unibank, a banking and finance company.

The ranking was compiled through a comprehensive methodology that awards graduate employers based on their popularity among students and the quality of their programs for graduates.

The sector winners for every industry included:

Ms. Illyana Vita Endaya-Lim, the human resources business partner at Nestlé Philippines, said that it was great to receive the award because it recognizes the growth and passion they put towards providing employment opportunities for Filipinos.

“One of our biggest pillars is the youth. We believe that the youth give us a lot of new ideas, they give a lot of new energy and innovation to our organization which makes us relevant to the future needs of our consumers and society,” Ms. Lim stated at the awards ceremony.

For employers, this award offers the chance to be recognised and get your brand in front of thousands of the most ambitious graduates.

Companies who are looking to get the best early career talent into their organizations should reach out to Prosple, GradPhilippines’ holding company.

“It is fantastic to be able to bring this award to the Philippines after our success in Australia and New Zealand. We look forward to collaborating with people and organizations in the graduate recruitment community in the future” Yohanne Esguerra said.

Yohanne also noted that Prosple will be looking to work with universities, associations, and student societies as they offer the most direct way to help early career talent.
