On ‘The Tonight Show’, host Jimmy Fallon finally gave the creators of viral TikTok dance routines the recognition they deserve.
Last month Addison Rae, one of the most followed influencers on TikTok, made an appearance on the show where she performed 8 viral TikTok dance routines, which sparked an outcry on social media. People were criticizing Rae for not giving credits where they are due–to the black creators behind the dance choreographs.
Addison Rae did explain that the creators were credited on the YouTube description of the Tonight Show clip. She also added that it’s hard to say the name of the creators during the show because of the limited time given to her.
To properly address the issue, Jimmy Fallon interviewed some of the black creators, including Maya and Chris (Up), and YvnggPrince (Corvette Corvette), among others. The guests also shared how their dance steps went viral, and even showed the choreography during the show.
In these day and age, giving proper credits and recognition is a form of respect to the hard work of creators.
