The arts indeed evolved when the pandemic started and continued to grow as the days pass by. We have seen how people become more involved in politics and social issues by expressing themselves on social media, impacting our everyday lives.
Blog posts, Twitter timelines, Facebook pages, and online essays emerging and developed addressing issues, personal reflections, disseminating information, or even an integrated form of education became a new literature form.
Our daily lifestyles now consist of wearing face masks and face shields in various designs and aesthetics, and it became a unique expression of fashion. Face masks also became a canvas for artists to express or sell their art and even use it as a form of protest with messages calling for change.
Online forms of gatherings and events become normal. We used only to see it on the Black Mirror series. John Lloyd and Bea experimental movies on Instagram Livestream emerged, even series and films are now aired regularly on YouTube. Tiktok videos are becoming advertisements and infomercial channels, and a lot more. People have become more creative.
Nowadays, we now directly communicate virtually. The limitations of personal and intimate gatherings today caused a significant change in how we did things before.
Hence, we are all into cyberspace.
LAF 2021: Into the Cyberspace is the third of its annual flagship art event – the Likha Art Fair. This year, it will revolve around how art becomes a significant factor in people’s new lifestyle amid the pandemic – transitioning from intimate gatherings & meeting in physical locations into cyberspace.
The online art event will happen on April 17, 4 PM onwards, and April 18, 6 PM onwards via Astrolikha’s Facebook Live (facebook.com/astrolikha/) – it includes an online art exhibit at instagram.com/astrolikhagallery, online performances, and art talks with talented speakers – Celina Mae Medina (filmmaking), Ed Enclona (photography), Camcas Cervantes (art directing), Worshipthegays (the art of drag) and Carmela Solomon (interior designing).
Budding talented artists like Jai Lalicon, Meghan Diane, Mikaella Umpad, Fatima Antolin, nocturne, and Hera Mae Trisha Pineda, will also grace the LAF2021 virtual stage.
Astrolikha is an arts organization that aims to use arts to create social impacts, decentralize the art scene and help artists have platforms where they can showcase artistry and creativity. Multidisciplinary artist Brenn Louie Lalap founded it in 2017.
