Young women celebrates International Women’s Day 2021

The Young Women’s Christian Association – FEU Chapter (YWCA-FEU) is an all-female  organization in Far Eastern University (FEU) that aims to promote and provide an avenue for the  development of the community’s awareness to the societal issues women face. It commits to  develop women youth through social involvement, cluster transformation and adherence to God’s  grace. Also, the organization is a local chapter of YWCA Manila and YWCA World which can be  found in 125 countries across the globe.

The fight for equality for women all round the world has always been multifaceted, with its struggles deeply intertwined with a woman’s environment and the social strata she belongs in. We  are very fortunate to have been born into a country that ranks as one of the most gender-equal  countries not only in Asia, but also in the world. However, there is still much room for  improvement for how our society treats women.

The YWCA – FEU Chapter has been supporting IWD for several years, and for 2021 the all-female  organization aims to be one of the most effective organizations that hone young women’s ability  to lead, empower and respond to the needs of women youth in society. In line with the annual  celebration of the International Women’s Month, the organization aims to uphold women’s rights  and full leverage that lies through the potential of women’s leadership especially in these trying  times.

FEU YWCA

Last March 27, 2021, YWCA hosted a momentous webinar that unifies women from all sectors of  Philippine society towards the goal of achieving equality, empowerment, and progress entitled  “Celebrating Women Leaders: Achieving Equal Opportunities For All”. With this year’s IWD  theme set as #ChooseToChallenge, YWCA — FEU Chapter chose to celebrate notable women  and the people they inspire, from breaking the sound barrier to all of those continuing to break the  glass ceiling. This event explored IWD’s themes of equity, inclusion, and empowerment, featuring  Gina Morales and Maria Montseratt Iturralde-Hamlin.

In her statement for International Women’s Day (8 March), YWCA — FEU Chapter President,  Monica Morales stated: “It is high time to recognize the struggles of women in making this world  a more inclusive place.”

This webinar is led by Young Women’s Christian Association – FEU Chapter with the support of  other friends of YWCA. Fill the future with awareness and become an advocate today.
