UP Oroquieta will host AdLikha 2021, an online zine competition that seeks to incorporate social advocacy in art-making. Participants may submit their entries until April 26, 2021. The organization will announce the winners in the virtual program proper of the event on May 1, 2021, via Zoom.
The competition is now exclusive to all participants ages 15 to 24 years old from Region IV-A CALABARZON. Winners will get the chance to amplify their causes through zine, and earn as much as Php 8,000 cash prize.
In its very first installment, AdLikha 2021 underscores the collective struggles and collective recovery of Filipinos amidst the ongoing pandemic.
“Upon brainstorming this event, we want to see the different facets or images of recovery that are unique to the lived experiences and situations of our participants,” said Carmela Isabelle Disilio, the activity head of AdLikha 2021 and current Educational Committee Head of UP Oroquieta.
With this year’s theme, “Panimdim at Pagbangon”, the competition centers on the reflections and evaluations of the current socioeconomic status of Philippine society, in the context of Quezon Province. It also encourages participants to provide suggestions on how Filipinos can recover from challenges—both personal and national—and reclaim what they have lost.
“With all the news and happenings going about, it is hard to choose a single topic to be highlighted in the competition. So, we thought it would be best to give our participants the freedom to choose what they want to feature in their zine, so long as it is related to the concept of recovery,” Disilio added.
Registration for AdLikha 2021 is ongoing and is open until April 10, 2021. Interested participants may know more about the event and registration processes here, or message the organization at uporoquieta96@gmail.com.
