Alan Kim warms hearts as he wins Best Young Performer in Critics Choice Awards

This adorable child star won a pretty big award for his role in his debut film, and his reaction is priceless.

Alan Kim, the eight-year-old actor of ‘Minari’, burst into tears while accepting his award for Best Young Performer, beating out Ryder Allen from ‘Palmer’, Ibrahima Gueye from ‘The Life Ahead’, and Helena Zengel from ‘News of the World’, among others.  He goes on to thank all the critics that voted for him, his family, and the production companies for the movie.

“I hope I will be in other movies,” he said. “Is this a dream? I hope this is not a dream.”

Minari, a film about a Korean family starting a farm in rural America, also won this year’s Critic Choice awards for Best Foreign Language Film. Alan Kim debuts with his role as David, the son of Jacob, played by ‘The Walking Dead’ star Steven Yeung.

Two weeks ago, Alan said in an interview with A24 that his favourite actor was Sonic the Hedgehog. Later, Alan would wake up to find out Sonic’s actor, Ben Schwartz, had a special message which left the child actor giddy with excitement.

At such a young age, Allan has won not only such a prestigious award, but also the hearts of the internet. This cute child actor definitely has a bright future ahead of him, and we are looking forward to more of his work!
