Raising Youth Awareness in the 16th Lasallian Arts Month

“The purpose of art is to raise people to a higher level of awareness than they would otherwise attain on their own.”

-Brassai

As we all have experienced staggering challenges in our current situation lately, it takes great encouragement to take action while facing the youth issues and concerns through the use of art. Because to truly stand firmly, you have to inherit and spread awareness in our community. Art is a form of supremely delicate awareness that expresses the state of one-ness. It is proven to be humanity’s most essential, most universal language of our enlightenment process.

This year, Benilde Culture and Arts Unit (BCAU) launches the 16th Lasallian Arts Month with the theme “Mamulat at Kumilos” which aims to raise awareness on youth issues and concerns related to what’s happening in our community. We utilize art as a platform to enjoin the community in making a stand.

Recognizing the call for more than just entertainment, the 16th Lasallian Arts month continues to collaborate and create with fellow artists that foster the call for social justice in our community. As such, the BCAU’s student-artists utilized the social media platform and opened a Facebook group for artists– Taft ArtisTambayan, and will launch the BCAU website. This a platform for different discussions and engagements which empower awareness joint with each youth’s creative ideas.
