Misspelled last name in your birth certificate? VLC will host a webinar on correcting entries in the Civil Registry

To have a clearer understanding on the procedure, grounds, and jurisdictional requirements on changing names and correcting entries in the Civil Registry, that is the goal of the Villasis Law Center (VLC) as it holds a special online lecture entitled “Birth Certificates: How to Change My Name and Correct Entries in the Civil Registry” this Saturday, January 30 at 2PM via Zoom.

The main focus of the webinar will be Republic Act No. 9048 that gives ‘authorization to the city or municipal civil registrar to correct a clerical or typographical error in an entry, and/or change of first name in the civil register without the need of a judicial order’. Rules 103 and 08 of the Rules of Court will also be explained.

The key speaker for this special online lecture will be Justice Magdangal M. De Leon who is currently the Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals. He is also a Law Professor, Bar Reviewer and a member of the International Consultants Group, Rules and Principles of Transnation Civil.
