VLC’s Atty. Kit Villasis discussed the Amendments to the 1989 Rules on Evidence

Last May 1, 2020, the proposed Amendments to the 1989 Revised Rules on Evidence (A.M No. 19-08-15-SC) took effect. What does this mean for us in the legal community?

This was the topic discussed during Villasis Law Center (VLC) – Bar Review’s latest special online lecture entitled “Amendments to the Rules on Evidence” conducted last Sunday, Jan. 24 via Zoom.

The webinar was led by none other than VLC’s Founder and Director Atty. Christian “Kit” G. Villasis. He is also Associate Dean at the University of Manila, College of Law; a holder of the Justine Arsenio Dizon Memorial Award in Remedial Law; Managing Partner at the Law Firm of Villasis & Partners; as well as a Certified Data Protection Officer (DPO).

Atty. Kit’s lectures have always been most sought-after, even before the pandemic when face-to-face reviews were done. His ability to explain complicated topics in enlightening and entertaining ways are what endears him to his students.

The three hour webinar, which was attended by more than 50 students from various universities, mainly focused on the significant changes and amendments to the 1989 Revised Rules on Evidence that began in 2008 during the term of Chief Justice Renato Puno. The approval of the amendments by the Supreme Court En Banc was on October 8, 2019.
