Thank you, 2020

The following#POPCreators entry was submitted by Carl John Carolino, a 27-year-old Creative Writing Senior High school teacher. Submissions under POP! Creator Community appears “as is,” without any editorial intervention.

Here’s the poem created by Carolina entitled “Thank you, 2020”:

Thank you, 2020
for making me explore every part of our house.
Now I know the exact number of tiles
in our kitchen. They are fifty and I love
playing on them like I am skiing
in Finland where I dream to see
Northern lights.

Thank you, 2020
for making me value the sound
of the jalousie windows when I close them.
The tune makes me feel secured
as the outside world is filled with battles
against the invisible enemy.

Thank you, 2020
for reminding me that life is a leaf
clinging to the branch of a tree without knowing when
it will fall to the ground.
I am blessed that I still dance with the wind.
I will just sway and ’til spring shows her beauty to me anew.
