College degree in anime, manga to be offered by Japanese university

A university in Japan will soon be offering a degree in anime and manga, which will include lessons from leading artists and animators in the industry.

Kaishi Professional University in the Niigata Prefecture will launch the program in April 2021 with a capacity of 80 students, as per Crunchyroll on Nov. 18.

The announcement comes after the country’s Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology approved the establishment of the institution’s anime and manga department earlier this month.

The private university will begin accepting applications for the program on Dec. 1, as per report. It will then hold the first entrance exam on Dec. 19. JB
