While art institutions are limiting their access or sometimes keeping their doors shut worldwide because of the COVID-19 pandemic, internet users can still enjoy a culture shot from home. From Renaissance masterpieces to contemporary landscape art, here are several shows to enjoy from the comfort of your home.

“David Hockney: Ma Normandie” at Galerie Lelong & Co.

Since the global pandemic has compelled us to spend most of our time indoors, many of us are craving wide-open spaces and greenery. If that is you, David Hockney’s virtual exhibition, “My Normandy” at Paris-based Galerie Lelong & Co should suit you. It offers a stroll among the apple trees and timbered houses that the star British artist painted when he settled in the Normandy countryside in March 2019.

“David Hockney: Ma Normandie” is available on the Galerie Lelong & Co website and will welcome the public at the gallery’s Paris premises when the health situation allows. Note that this virtual exhibition is also adapted to virtual reality.

“From Renaissance to 20th century, French museums’ masterpieces” at the Universal Museum of Art

Sandro Botticelli, Tamara de Lempicka, Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, Vincent van Gogh, Berthe Morisot, Robert Delauna. Who would have imagined that such diverse masters could one day be visible under the same (virtual) roof? The Universal Museum of Art partnered with CLIC France to put together this giant virtual exhibition. In total, 150 works by 100 artists are presented in 11 thematic galleries, from “ideal beauty” to “sensual bodies.”

“De la Renaissance au XXe siècle, les chefs-d’oeuvre de la peinture dans les musées français” is on view on UMA’s website.

“The Advent of the Artist” at the Louvre

From craftsperson to artist, there is often just one step. This virtual exhibition from the Louvre showcases the progression of artists’ careers throughout the past centuries. This evolution is tackled following five themes: from signatures to self-portraits. A good way to admire Albrecht Dürer, Rembrandt van Rijn and Eugene Delacroix’s self-portraits from the comfort of your home.
