This is the premise of the new Netflix animated adaptation of the famous comic book series in the Philippines, the award-winning critically acclaimed Filipino comic book “Trese,” written and drawn by Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo.
Trese is a fantasy, crime-horror comic book that revolves around the story of a woman detective named Alexandra Trese that investigates paranormal events and anomalies in Manila. Whenever a crime is committed that is well over the qualifications of the police, they call on Alexandra Trese to solve it.
These crimes are usually involving the creatures of Philippine mythology in modern times. Creatures like the iconic Aswang, Manananggal, Kapre, Tikbalang, and sometimes involves gods and deities roaming around the streets of Manila acting as kingpins of crime, beings that are part of organized crime or just simply co-existing with other humans trying to live a peaceful life.
The imagination and creativity found in the comic book caught the attention of Netflix and was fortunate enough to turn into an animated series.
Announced back in 2018, a lot of fans of the comic book were caught by surprise when Netflix made it official that they will be making an animated series adaptation of Trese, and this had people excited.
The announcement alone received a lot of positive feedback and fans made it clear that they want to see the adaptation happen.
Set to officially be released in 2021, Netflix already gave fans some teaser images of the upcoming animated series on their Facebook account.
The images are stunning and received well over sixteen thousand likes a day and more than ten thousand shares every day.
This only shows how excited the fans are and how Netflix is doing a great job in catering to their fans and this iconic series.
