The annual National Youth Congress (NYC) is a nationwide convention, organized by the UP Economics Society and the UP School of Economics Student Council, that exposes high school students to the underlying problems of our society, engaging them to talk about what role they can play as youth leaders.
Now on its 17th year, the Congress is titled, “Beyond the Numbers: Navigating a Data-Informed Philippine Ecosystem”
NYC strives to provide an avenue where students from all over the country can gather, learn and collaborate about the important issues of the Philippine society. With the theme Beyond the Numbers: Navigating a Data-Informed Philippine Ecosystem, NYC 17 aims to highlight the role of data in measuring, evaluating, and guiding economic policies and other societal impacts. It seeks to explore the flow of information and the advancement of data as forerunners for a well-functioning economy by sparking critical discussions about its various uses and interpretations. The theme will likewise initiate discourse on topics such as effective public information dissemination, transparency and accountability, and the influence of the growing online community.
NYC 17 continues its legacy in delivering relevant and comprehensive discussions by maintaining our country’s unique national identity while participating in a rapidly developing global community, wherein students will have the opportunity to learn from their fellow delegates about our history, economic involvement, and standing with our Southeast Asian neighbours.
The 17th National Youth Congress will be held on November 14-15, 2020 (Saturday – Sunday) online, primarily via Zoom.
