Meet the girl who voiced over 30 cartoon characters: Tara Strong

Several generations are probably familiar with the cute, high-pitched voice of Bubbles from Powerpuff Girls. The character itself is a legendary figure that girls and boys remember along with their childhood memories, as well as one of the arguably best cartoon shows ever.

But did you know that Bubbles also has the same voice as The Fairly OddParents’ Timmy Turner, Teen Titans’s Raven, and My Little Pony’s Twilight Sparkle? Among 20-plus other characters, of course. A Canadian-American voice actress, Tara Strong started her voice acting career when she was thirteen-years-old, being the original voice of Hello Kitty.

Check out this video collection of Strong’s character voices–it’s an hour long but it’s a darn good showcase of her talent!

Strong looks back at how she initially started doing silly voices as a kid. “I always did do funny voices and my mom used to tell this story that we’d go into stores and I’d say, ‘Let’s pretend we’re from England… and so I always did do silly voices as most kids do,” she said.

Tara Strong also voiced Chowder’s Truffles
She also voiced the Young Ben 10

When it comes to playing versatile roles (she can voice up to 14 different characters in one show!), she explained the importance of having a good ear. She says, “I have a good ear and you’ll find most voice over actors or singers have good ears, meaning we can mimic and we hear pitches really well.”

Tara Strong is also not just a voice actress, but an entrepreneur as well. Being a devoted mother of two boys, she and her husband created a line of baby bottles that can note the date for breast milk storage. InqPOP!/Bea Constantino
