The first full trailer for the Bleach live-action movie is out and so far we’re seeing fan favorites Ichigo, Rukia, Byakuya, Renji, and Uryu. Based from the clip, it looks like we’ll be following the storyline of the anime’s first season, the “Substitute Shinigami” arc, which starts with a Hollow showing up in Karakura Town.

For everyone who followed either the manga or the anime (or both), this is the where Ichigo meets Rukia for the first time and becomes her substitute. He later receives and meets his Zanpakutou, discovers Soul Society, and find out more about Hollows —as well as the other in-betweens.

With that, fingers-crossed we’ll see more of the instrumental characters in the movie when it comes out.
From the looks of it, all promotions on the movie have focused so far on the five characters mentioned, and the action scenes seem to have been set in Karakura Town. If for anything, since they included Uryu who looks like he already has the hang of his Quincy powers, they should also have Chad and Orihime to complete the gang. This author is personally excited to see Urahara and how they’ll animate Kon, the modsoul living through a lion plushie.

Until the movie gets released on July 20 in Japan, let’s hope that upcoming teasers will show more of our favourites.

Bleach is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Tite Kubo. The series ran on Weekly Shonen Jump, ending with a total of 686 chapters, from 2001 to 2016. Its anime adaptation ran for a total of 366 episodes from 2004 to 2012, with four animated films also released in between.
