Guyito is picking up trash for #EarthDay. Here’s why you should, too

Earth Day is an annual global event celebrated on April 22 which seeks to promote environmental protection. It was first celebrated in the United States on April 22, 1970, through the efforts of then US Senator Gaylord Nelson. But eventually the organizer Denis Hayes decided to bring it to other countries through the Earth Day Network, an organization he established that coordinates all Earth Day events around the world. Currently, there are over a billion people from 193 countries celebrating Earth Day through various events.

You can also help promote the protection of our environment by picking up the litter you see at home, at your school, or at your workplace. These seemingly “little” trash do have harmful effects not just on the environment but also to us. For example, a higher risk of road accidents occur during rainy season because of clogged drainages. These drainage systems become clogged because of the accumulated trash we throw on the streets like paper, plastic, and even candy wrappers.

And if you’re still asking why you should bother picking up trash and helping protect the earth, just remember what Peter Quill said when asked why he wants to save the galaxy:

That’s right—we all live here and we’ve got no other place to go. via Giphy

Join us as we celebrate Earth Day 2018 through this interactive game. Fill your basket with as much trash as you can to get more points. But take note, for every missed trash, you’ll lose a life.

So, how much trash can you pick up?
