ARTIST INC. to launch GAPASAN on September 2017

The Arts Research and Training Institute in Southern Tagalog Inc. (ARTIST INC.) will launch GAPASAN, a National Forum and Congress on Traditional Practices in Luzon on September 5-9 2017 at the University of the Philippines Los Baños.

The five-day festival congress is open for everyone. This eventbrings indigenous cultural communities (ICC’s) and various groups together and offers a unique platform for socio-cultural exchanges and discussions.

GAPASAN will be divided into six components:
KAKAYAHEY- a conference on ICC conflict resolution
MANGAN- a festival of traditional cuisine from seven regions
ETHNO-GALING-a lecture-demonstration of traditional medicines and healing practices
AY-AYAM- a demonstration on traditional games and sports demonstrations
PISTA NG DULAAN AT SINING – exhibitions and performances from both the traditional and contemporary groups
ILOHAN- a workshop on curriculum contextualization

These components aim to encourage development of traditional practices in various fields, generate deeper understanding of different experiences and ICC issues from specific regions in Luzon, and promote a culture-based teaching-learning environment.
