Rakrakan Festival 2017 all set to rock MOA Concert Grounds on Jan. 14

Are you ready for the biggest, loudest, and most exciting OPM festival this 2017?

This year’s rock festival, dubbed Rakrakan: OPM Against Drugs Festival, aims to educate the youth about drugs through music, arts, and sports. It will be held at the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds on January 14.

During the press conference last January 6 at Gweilos Bar & Grill, the CEO of Rakista Radio, Harold Ridz Solomon, elaborated that this year’s theme is a response to the Close-up Forever Summer concert tragedy last May 2016. He believes that musicians can influence the youth to steer clear of drugs through their music. He also wants to show that drugs do not necessarily go hand-in-hand with rock music.

Also present at the press conference were Tanya Markova, Gin Rum & Truth, Absolute Play, and Superkendi who expressed their full support for the campaign.

Yok Tano, from the band Gin Rum & Truth, added “Gusto naming malaman ng kabataan na ang musika ay mas-‘high’ pa sa kahit anong tine-take nila.” (We want the youth to know that music gives a better “high” than any drug that they could take).

This year’s Rakrakan: OPM Against Drugs Festival will feature performances from 100 of your favorite artists from the mainstream and indie music scenes on five stages: Move, Mosh, Groove, Indie, and Slam. The festival will also include their annual Merch Bazaar, Skateboard competition, and Street Art Challenge.
