Lipa Ballet School brings us ‘The Nutcracker’

Lipa Ballet School, Inc. is bringing back “The Nutcracker” as an early Christmas treat for everyone. It is a world-class ballet production that will be staged on June 2, 2018, 6pm at the Canossa Academy Gym, Lipa, Batangas. Tickets are priced at Php 200.

Millions all over the world have seen “The Nutcracker” – it is a classic among the many grand ballet productions. Ten years ago, the school brought it to Lipa City, Batangas for the very first time. In their celebration of a decade of passion for dance, Lipa Ballet School, Inc. has decided to restage it.

The story begins with a warm and festive party at the home of the Baron and Baroness Von Stahlbaum. The Von Stahlbaum children Fritz and Clara are so excited because their cousin, the Grand Duchess, and many of their relatives and friends are arriving.

At the stroke of midnight, Herr Drosselmeyer presents Clara with a magical gift – a Nutcracker Prince.

The Nutcracker Prince tells the story of the battle with the mice and how Clara saved him from the hands of the Mouse Queen. Soon, the Sugar Plum Fairy and Herr Drosselmeyer realize Clara is getting tired and so ends the adventure — the Sugar Plum Fairy fades away until next Christmas. Clara is left with the memory of a beautiful Christmas gift, looking forward to her next trip to the magical land of dreams.

The production is led by the school’s internationally renowned Artistic Directors Gregory Aaron of Balletcenter Cebu and Girlie Royeca of the Royeca Ballet (Davao and Gensan). They will be guiding talented students from the Lipa Ballet School, alongside dancers from Ballet Philippines and the Philippine High School for the Arts.

Join the Lipa Ballet School in revisiting the nostalgic story of Clara as she goes on a Christmas Eve magical adventure from her warm home to the land of Sweets!
