The California-born R&B singer and songwriter was immediately embraced by critics and audiences alike when she introduced her 2014 mixtape, “Cloud 19.” Vice proclaimed her an “R&B Artist on the Verge of Blowing Up,” BuzzFeed pegged her at #4 on their “41 SXSW 2015 Artists You Need In Your Life,” and she ended up being one of SXSW’s “Top 5 Most Tweeted Artists. In 2015, she released “You Should Be Here,” which was nominated for a 2016 Grammy Award for “Best Urban Contemporary Album.” Billboard immediately called this project “The year’s first great R&B album,” and it debuted at number 5 on the US Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. She has since collaborated with other musicians, including Eminem, Charlie Puth, and Zayn, and was an opening act on Demi Lovato’s 2018 “Tell Me You Love Me World Tour.”
